David Patterson has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in the U.S. and abroad. In 1988 he founded the critically acclaimed New World Guitar Trio. For over a decade the group dedicated itself to forging new ground in the music world and gained international recognition through its arrangements, commissions, recordings and innovative performance style. As the groups producer and arranger, David explored various genres of music from Beethoven to the folk music of Portugal. He also worked closely with composers Osvaldo Golijov, Claudio Ragazzi and Dana Brayton on works commissioned by the Trio.

In addition to his work with the New World Guitar Trio, David Patterson has performed with ensembles including the Auros Group, Musica Viva and The Boston Modern Orchestra Project. He has been a guest artist with the Harvard Group for New Music and with the Tanglewood Music Festival. As a producer, he has worked with various artists on recording projects, commercial soundtracks and live broadcasts for WGBH-FM.

David Patterson has conducted master classes at various music institutions in South America, Taiwan and the U.S. including Berklee College, University of Hawaii and The Saint Louis Guitar Society. He is currently on the faculty of Gordon College in Wenham, MA and Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, MA.
